Textbook:
Hughes-Hallett, Gleason, McCallum, et Al., CALCULUS Single Variable, 5th Edition 

Description: This course will cover the following sections:
Chapter 5: 5.1-5.4,   Chapter 6: 6.1-6.5,   Chapter 7: 7.1-7.5, 7.7-7.8,  Chapter 8:  8.1-8.2, 8.6,  Chapter 11:  11.1, 11.4-11.7.

Homework assignments: they won't be collected. But the Quiz sections are based on them.

Grading: Grades will be assigned based on a curve, using  (for each single student)  the best of the following two percentages:
15% Quizzes;  20% 1st Midterm;  20%, 2nd Midterm; 40% Final Exam;
15% Quizzes;  20%  Best of the two Midterms; ; 65% Final Exam.

Note: for the quizzes the 3 best  among the 4 will be taken into account and there will be no make-up exams  for midterms

Quiz 1: Tue, August 9, 11:30 am
Midterm 1: Wednesday, August 10, 11:00 am
Quiz 2: Tue, August 16, 11:30 am
Quiz 3: Tue, August 23, 11:30 am
Midterm 2: Wednesday, August 24, 11:00 am
Quiz 4: Tue, Aug 30, 11:30 am
Final Exam: Friday, September 2, 3:00-6:00  pm.

Exams: There will be two midterms and one final. No make-up exams will be given. For the midterm and the final, you may bring a single sheet of notes (cut an 8 1/2 X 11 paper in half; notes can be written on both sides). Do not bring a blue book. The use of calculators or any electronic devices will not be permitted during exams.
